Arturo Rios | Central Park Conservancy

Arturo Rios was well represented at the 44th Annual Olmstead Awards Luncheon in New York's Central Park.

The Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon is the signature event of the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy, honoring Central Park’s biggest supporters and raising millions for the Conservancy’s care of the Park.

On the first Wednesday each May, Women’s Committee supporters gather in the beautiful Conservatory Garden to celebrate spring and the City’s 843-acre backyard.

As NYC’s premier luncheon, tickets to this event are available by invitation only to current Women’s Committee members, and it sells out each year.

An Elegant Summer | The 2026 Collection

An Elegant Summer | The 2026 Collection

The Arturo Rios 2026 Spring & Summer Collection reflects several dominant trends in high-end millinery for the season, characterized by a shift from "quiet luxury" toward bold, statement-making artistry.

Architectural & High-Impact Silhouettes

The collection moves away from simple minimalism with dramatic, structured forms.

Vertical Height: Pieces like "Rosalie" and "Coco: Red" utilize soaring feather sprays and quills to create commanding height.

Asymmetry

Many designs, such as "Georgina" and "Rhodes," feature off-center placements and diagonal angles, which are a major 2026 trend for adding a contemporary edge to traditional headwear.

Bold Color Palettes

Aligning with the "dopamine dressing" movement, the collection embraces saturated, high-impact hues designed to boost the wearer's mood.

Vibrant Solids: Bold fuchsia ("Coco: Fuchsia"), electric red ("Coco: Red"), and deep teals are prominent, intended for high-profile events like the Kentucky Derby.

Monochrome Styling: The prevalence of single-color headpieces supports the 2026 trend of head-to-toe monochromatic looks.

Dimensional Textures & Sustainable Craft
Texture is a primary focus, moving beyond flat surfaces into 3D sculptural forms.

A Responsible Style for Every Woman

Responsible Featherwork: A signature of the brand, the use of ethically sourced feathers provides a "feather art" aesthetic that adds movement and tactile depth.

Netted Veiling: Pieces like "Georgina" incorporate fine netting, which adds a layer of "sophisticated mystique" that is trending in both bridal and formal race-day fashion.

Romantic & Historical Revivals
There is a clear influence from Rococo and vintage aesthetics, reinterpreted for modern wear.

Your New "A" Game: Unique Elegance

Floral Accents: Designs like "Viviana" feature delicate, multi-dimensional floral embellishments, reflecting the season's broader interest in botanical and "garden party" themes.

Refined Elegance: Even the boldest pieces maintain a sense of "High Society" refinement, prioritizing polished craftsmanship over raw or edgy finishes.

When purchaing an AR hat, be assured that the design team, including Arturo himself, wants your input. What type of event are you attending? What color palette works with your dress?

How can we make this a special hat for you?

As Arturo's latest Spring & Summer 2026 Collection gains critically great notes from fellow couture millinery artists, we want to express a deep expression of gratitude. Without our clientele and other milliners, this would have been impossible. Thank you.

Douglas Tapia: Our Newest Collaborations

We're excited to write that Arturo Rios has formed a creative collaboration with renowned Latin American fashion designer Douglas Tapia.

Based in Miami, Caracas and Panamá, designer Tapia has joined in Arturo's Mexican cultural celebration of flowers, birds and color to create bold, modern styles from head to toe.

Arturo's collaboration has already introduced his Spring & Summer 2026 Collection at the a la Carta event in Miami earlier in March.

Extending this fusion of couture fashion with Arturo's newest collection, we are excited to say that we will participate again at The Metropolitan Fashion Show in Palm Springs, California on April 26th at the legendary Frank Sinatra estate.

The event benefits The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert, an outstanding non-profit that brings Palm Springs and the surrounding area together with care, kindness and real-world resources and support.

This video features Arturo's latest design: Rhodes.

Its assymetrical, circular design demands attention and mesmerizes with a complex, couture presentation.

The Kentucky Derby, inaugurated in 1875 at Churchill Downs, is the longest-running continuously held major sporting event in the U.S., famous as the "Run for the Roses." As of 2025, Sovereignty won the 151st edition, following 2024 winner Mystik Dan. It remains a premier 3-year-old Thoroughbred race and the first leg of the Triple Crown.

  • Origins: Founded by Col. Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr., it was modeled after European races like the Epsom Derby.
  • Early Dominance: Black jockeys and trainers dominated early, winning 15 of the first 28 races, though they were excluded from 1920–2000.
  • Traditions: The "Twin Spires" were added in 1895, the red rose garland became standard in 1932, and the mint julep in 1938.
  • Recent Winners: Sovereignty (2025), Mystik Dan (2024), Mage (2023), Rich (2022).
  • Modern Era: The event has shifted towards favorite-friendly results in recent years, with 8 winners being post-time favorites in the last 16 editions, including Triple Crown winners American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018).
  • 2020 Pivot: The 2020 race was delayed to September and held without fans due to COVID-19.
  • Venue Improvements: Churchill Downs has recently expanded with a renovated paddock and enhanced viewing.
  • Upcoming: The 2026 Derby trail is already underway with prep races identifying contenders like Paladin and Bella Ballerina.

Colors: Purple

Purple is a color, with over 200 different shades, similar in appearance to violet light. In the RYB color model historically used in the arts, purple is a secondary color created by combining red and blue pigments. In the CMYK color model used in modern printing, purple is made by combining magenta pigment with either cyan pigment, black pigment, or both. In the RGB color model used in computer and television screens, purple is created by mixing red and blue light in order to create colors that appear similar to violet light. According to color theory, purple is considered a cool color.

Purple, and all of its shades is a true athlete. It is nimble, fast and strong. It ranges from a pale violet to a stormy maroon-laden tempest.

Purple combines two of the three primary colors: blue and red. Strong bases which create a powerful reaction. Known for its rich history with monarchy, church, universities and seduction, purple easily rests as one of the most important colors in fashion.

With all of its agility, it demands respect and does not play well with other colors. It's nemesis, yellow, fights for attention. Blue, The Master of Disguise, is a good friend. It dominates other colors but is best buddies with white and neutral colors so that it can retain its center point on the stage.

Purple has long been associated with royalty, originally because Tyrian purple dye—made from the secretions of sea snails—was extremely expensive in antiquity.

Purple was the color worn by Roman magistrates; it became the imperial color worn by the rulers of the Byzantine Empire and the Holy Roman Empire, and later by Roman Catholic bishops. Similarly in Japan, the color is traditionally associated with the emperor and aristocracy.

According to contemporary surveys in Europe and the United States, purple is the color most often associated with rarity, royalty, luxury, ambition, magic, mystery, piety and spirituality. When combined with pink, it is associated with eroticism, femininity, and seduction.
